Professor Dr. Christian Tagsold has been a faculty member at the Department of Modern Japanese Studies since January 2006. Since June 2019, he has been conducting research under a Heisenberg position supported by the German Research Foundation. His ongoing research focuses on the following areas:
- The Japanese diaspora in Europe.
- Preserving modern heritage in Japan.
- Exploring the concept of the unique nature of the Japanese in culturalist discourses.
Moreover, he continues his research on Japanese gardens and the Olympic Games, specifically those held in Tokyo in 1964 and 2020/21.
